DAMON Metal and DAMON Clear Braces
Damon braces are the magic behind more than two million perfect smiles. Damon Braces Small discreet brackets combine the best in functionality, comfort and discretion and are available in METAL or CLEAR (discreet).
A few smart design features give DAMON braces a clear advantage over competitors.
Where traditional braces use elastic bands to connect the wires and brackets, Damon braces use a sliding mechanism to achieve frictionless, comfortable straightening.
- Versatile – suitable for treating a wide range of orthodontic issues
- Low-profile brackets for discreet straightening
- Comfortable, frictionless straightening system
- Made from stain-resistant materials
Unlike some other transparent systems, DAMON Clear braces are produced from stain-resistant materials, which means they stay looking fabulously discreet all the way through treatment.
Getting used to DAMON Braces
All braces take a little getting used to – and Damon braces are no exception. Initially, you may feel a little discomfort as you get used to the presence of the brackets and wires. They can cause you to salivate more than usual and cause difficulties with speech. Don’t worry – this only lasts a few days.
Cleaning and maintenance
Sometimes it feels like braces can get in the way of keeping teeth clean by preventing the toothbrush from accessing nooks and crannies and creating problem spots where food easily gets trapped. Our advice is to maintain an uncompromising hygiene regime, introducing interdental brushes and mouthwash if you don’t already use these. Regular visits to The Dentist UK will also help to prevent problems from developing.
The last thing anyone wants is for your teeth to move back to their original position. To make sure this doesn’t happen, we’ll affix a discreet wire retainer. Your retainer is prone to wear and will eventually need replacing.
Fitting your DAMON Brace
DAMON brackets are cemented to the teeth individually. Each bracket is connected to its neighbour by wire. And it is by tightening this wire that your dentist gently draws the teeth into the correct position over time. The wires need to be tightened regularly by our team – usually every four to ten weeks.
Treatment time also varies. Some braces, such as our discreet Lingual Braces and Six Month Smiles, achieve fast results by acting only on the teeth which are visible when we smile. Other more comprehensive straightening treatments take much longer – up to 18months to two years in some cases.
Lingual braces are perhaps one of the best options available for discreet straightening.
An ingenious design trick makes lingual braces almost impossible to see.
Where other discreet straighteners rely on clear or tooth-coloured materials to achieve secret straightening, lingual brackets and wires affix to the rear of teeth where they can’t be seen, even when you look in the mirror , so not to draw attention to your teeth during the straightening process.
- Invisible straightening
- Suitable for a wide range of orthodontic issues
- Fast & comfortable straightening
Once fixed in place, lingual braces get to work straightening teeth right away. Braces usually require a short adjustment period while you get used to them – and lingual braces are no different. After fitting, you’ll need to return to the clinic every 6-8 weeks to have the braces adjusted. When the treatment is complete, we’ll provide you with a retainer to prevent teeth from moving back to their former position.
Ceramic or DAMON Clear Braces
The thought of spending a year or more in unsightly metal braces is enough to put many people off treatment – especially in the present age of selfies. If you’d prefer not to draw attention to orthodontic treatment, ceramic or clear braces could be the solution.
They blend seamlessly with teeth – a little like camouflage.
- Discreet orthodontic option
- Reliable, effective straightening
- Suitable for treating a wide range of issues
- Affordable straightening solution
Fixed Brace Hygiene
While wearing Fixed braces, you may want to introduce some new hygiene habits to keep the appliance clean and debris free, since it can’t be removed to clean. Mouthwash and interdental brushes can help keep the brace in good shape, and you should continue brushing twice daily as usual.
We also recommend regular appointments with the hygienist here at The Dentist to give you the best chance of preventing issues from developing.
