We offer intravenous (IV) sedation. The sedative drug is administered in a controlled manner, so we can ensure that you feel relaxed during the dental treatment. Our team of dentists and nurses are specially trained to deliver this type of sedation and will make sure you are safe and comfortable at all times during your visit.

To be a candidate for IV sedation, you will need to pass a basic medical assessment at the practice. This involves a full medical history and recordings of your blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen readings. Sedation treatments also require you to attend with a responsible adult who will drive or escort you home in private transport.
IV sedation is a very safe procedure, and you can resume all normal activities from the following morning.

Some dental patients are very anxious when they need treatment and their fear and discomfort is very real. For these patients, a local anaesthetic simply isn’t enough to allay their fears. With conscious sedation, we combine sedatives to help you relax and anaesthetics so you won’t feel any pain during your treatment. These sedatives are administered intravenously and the patient is constantly monitored during the entire process and treatment. Your dentist and nurses at The Dentist are highly trained and experience with all aspects of this process and will make sure you feel safe, comfortable and relaxed before, during and after your treatment.
As the name suggests, you will be awake during conscious sedation. However, some patients may briefly fall asleep during the process. Mostly, patients are awake but may not be able to speak. They are aware of their surroundings, but will feel completely relaxed.
Before you can be considered as a candidate for conscious sedation, you will be required to undergo a medical assessment at The Dentist. Our staff will take your full medical history including a recording of your blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen levels. These tests will ensure we can keep you safe and secure during sedation and your dental treatment.
Do you find yourself feeling anxious at the very thought of walking into your dentist’s office? Proper dental care is crucial for your oral health and your overall health and well-being so you need to visit your dentist regularly. If the only thing keeping you from seeking treatment for a toothache or making those twice-yearly visits to the dentist is the prospect of a panic attack, talk to your dentist about conscious sedation and receive the dental care you need.
The answer is a resounding NO. While conscious sedation is by no means as debilitating as being put under general anaesthetic, you will not be lucid enough to drive yourself home afterwards. We recommend you ask an adult family member or friend to drive you to and from your appointment. You may be anxious and distracted beforehand and you’ll certainly need someone to drive you home after your appointment. It’ll also be beneficial if your designated driver can see that you are settled and comfortable after they get you home.
Before you leave The Dentist, your practitioner will ensure you are well enough to go home. However, don’t plan on going to the gym or doing any heavy lifting. It’s best to go straight home and rest. You’ll most likely still feel a little groggy for a few hours after your dental treatment so bed rest is your best plan. Get a good night’s sleep and you should be able to resume your normal activities the following morning.

I found The Dentist after searching online for quite some time for a dentist I felt I could trust to fix the issues I was left with.
